Natural organic matter – the relationship between character and treatability
نویسندگان
چکیده
The characterisation and treatment of natural organic matter are becoming more important to the water utilities in the UK and around the world. This paper looks at the relationship between bulk and fractionated organic material and the performance of conventional water treatment processes.

Monitoring of organic matter and soil salinity by using IRS - LissIII satellite data in the Harat plain, of Yazd province
Current study monitored Electerical Conductivity (EC) as soil salinity index and Organic Matter (OM) in the area of Harat in Yazd, Iran, through remote sensing technology with high spatial and spectral resolution. The images were selected from IRS, LISS III satellites between the years 2008 and 2012. After preprocessing and analyzing the images, the relationship between parameters of (EC) an...
متن کاملChanges in the quality of river water before, during and after a major flood event associated with a La Niña cycle and treatment for drinking purposes.
The treatment of organics present in the lower reaches of a major river system (the Murray-Darling Basin, Australia) before (March-July 2010), during (December 2010-May 2011) and after (April-December 2012) a major flood period was investigated. The flood period (over 6months) occurred during an intense La Niña cycle, leading to rapid and high increases in river flows and organic loads in the r...
متن کاملA new approach to interpreting relationship between Rock-Eval S2 and TOC data for source rock evaluation based on regression analyses
To evaluate the relationship between total organic carbon (TOC) and Rock-Eval S2 (petroleum potential) of petroleum source rocks, atotal of 180 outcrop samples from the black organic matter–rich facies of Mesozoic strata from a locality of southwest of Iran wereinvestigated using Rock-Eval VI pyrolysis and Leco Carbon Analyzer. The linear regression is applied to determine the correlationbetwee...
متن کاملHabitat conditions and plant-environment relationship in some arid and semiarid lands character plants (case study: Shahriyar Rangelands, Tehran Province)
In order to obtain an optimum management of natural resources, determination of variables that control plant presence and distribution is needed. In the present research, the relationship between some character plants of drylands and some soil and environmental variables were investigated. After primary survey and selection of main plant species, sampling was done in each vegetation type within...
متن کاملContinuous Organic Characterization for Biological and Membrane Filter Performance Monitoring
Organic matter present in natural water sources is a concern in drinking water treatment because of its role in reacting to form disinfection by-products, contributing to membrane filtration fouling, and binding and transporting contaminants (Leenheer & Croué 2003). When the effects of organic matter on treatment processes are considered, a major source of uncertainty is the variable compositio...
